Kansas Knee Simulator

To evaluate the performance of total knee replacment components and the native knee, the KKS can simulate walking, cutting, or any variety of loading conditions. The simulator can also perform deep knee bends, flexing the components past 120 degrees of knee flexion.

Muscle Loading Rig

Currently being use to determe the effect of each head of the quadriceps and the hamstrings on both patellofemoral and tibiofemoral kinematics. It will also aid in identifying the consequences of different muscle weakness on the knee joint.

Quantify Joint Constraint

Evaluations of passive constraints are used to characterize the roles of ligaments and atericulating surfaces in both tibiofemoral and patellofemoral kinematics.

Rotary Instability

Identifying strategies that are utilized during rotational tasks that are included in activities of daily living (ADLs) in order to avoid the feeling of knee 'instability'.
